Enjoying some Lime

And I’m not talking about the citrus, either. I ate at Lime Fresh Mexican Grill for the first time today, and I’m ashamed to say it took a Groupon to get me there! My fajita-style burrito and guacamole were delicious, fresh, and provided a great atmosphere. (To be honest, though, the guacamole was pretty thin, not pure avocado the way I make it at home.) The staff was friendly, and I was delighted to find that they serve beer and wine. (Of course, I couldn’t indulge, as it was the middle of a work day.)

I spoke to the manager after my meal because I was curious to know if they live what they preach, which is humanely produced meat and more vegetables. I asked him (I’m so sorry, but I can’t remember his name – I’m just awful about that) if he could tell me exactly where they get their beef and chicken, and he did just that. All their chicken comes from Murray’s Chicken (which is listed in our Approved Food Brands) and all their beef comes from Meyer Natural Angus (which will soon be listed in our Approved Food Brands).

I can’t tell you how much I hate it when restaurant employees/managers/chefs give me attitude or the brush-off for asking where they their food. I pay good money to put that food in my body, and I can’t see why I shouldn’t have a right to know. At Lime, not only was the manager informative, he was also relaxed, friendly and not at all suspicious that I was asking such detailed questions. He is clearly a man who knows the value of meat, and understands that his customers’ diets are incredibly important.

Visiting Lime Fresh Mexican Grill is something incredibly easy that you can do to support humanely raised meat and help change the way our country views and raises animals. Especially check out Meatless Mondays, when all veggie items are 20% off!

(Oh, and check out their incredibly informal blog.)
