Recipe Wednesday: Agua de Pepino

The heat has come in full force in Florida, highs in the mid-nineties all this week. So in order to cool off here is a recipe for a refreshing drink for summer! I love adding cucumber slices to my water instead of lemon, it’s just so tasty and fresh cut cucumber smells so good! This recipe is for a drink from Latin America, in english it’s cucumber limeade.


  • 1 seedless cucumber, peeled and cut into chunks
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Sugar to taste (1/4 c or so is good)
  • 4 cups of water
  • ice

Put cucumber, sugar and lime juice in blender with half of the water. Blend well. Strain the pulp out of the mixture, stir in rest of water and serve over ice.

    Love, love, love agua de pepino!!!
    You just brought memories of my days in elementary school. The bus would drop us off at my aunt’s house and there always was a pitcher with “agua fresca” on the table waiting for us. Sometimes it was hibiscus (flor de jamaica), tamarind, pineapple, cantaloupe, etc.
    My favorite was always cucumber. thanks for reminding me of that and putting a big smile on my face.
